Dr. Farrukh Alvi

A collaborative and engaged leader with a proven track record of visionary leadership and successful program execution at the intersection of research and academics. His blend of academic, research, and administrative expertise has significantly contributed to the success of programs, initiatives and centers he has led. Examples of significant initiatives and accomplishments:

o Co-led and secured funding for a $160M+ proposal to establish the Institute for Strategic Partnerships in Research and Education (InSPIRE). Served as the founding Executive Director for over a year establishing InSPIRE's foundational structure, critical programs and partnerships and hiring senior leadership team, including the next ED.

o Led the development of an NSF Engines proposal to establish the Florida Advanced Manufacturing Engine (FLAME) as Principal Investigator.

o Served as the Founding Senior/Associate Dean for Research & Graduate Studies at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering from 2017 to 2022.

• Established the Office of Research and Graduate Studies, doubling research expenditures to nearly $40M annually and increasing graduate enrollment by more than 40%.

• Expanded the college's industrial network, securing substantial support from industry partners.

o Established the Florida Center for Advanced Aero-Propulsion (FCAAP), a multi-university, state-wide research, training, and education Center of Excellence (COE) through a highly competitive, large COE grant. As FCAAP’s founding director, led its growth to one of the most productive Centers of Excellence in the State University System of Florida that continues to thrive.
